Bohin sashiko Needles
These are fantastic needles to have while working on any sewing project, esp. Sashiko!
Bohin needles are highly recommended by designers and instructors. Manufactured in France by skilled craftsmen, they are polished and honed for exceptionally smooth stitching.
Fine point to minimize holes.
Eye polished with a unique process to minimize breaking thread as well as maximum strength and minimum bending.
Bohin Sashiko needles are of medium length with a long eye and a sharp point. They are thinner compared to same-lengthed embroidery needles for fabric to pass through easily when Sashiko stitching. So these needles can handle even relatively tight woven fabrics.
This package contains 8 assorted needles (4 different sizes). The shortest in the pack is about 40mm long and the longest is about 50mm long.
My experience is the shortest suits projects using every day hand sewing threads (such as Daruma hand sewing thread) on modem Sashiko projects or mending jobs; and the longest in the pack suits up to thread thickness as Olympus sashiko thread for texture of your projects. Because they are not too long, they are easy for you to “maneuver” while stitching.
I tend to take Sashiko as slow stitching and a mindful practice for me so they are my favorite.
If your project uses bulky and very thick thread, or you prefer to stitch fast by having lots of stitches on your needle, and if your fabric weave is relatively open then Olympus Sashiko 2-needle-pack are perhaps better for you:-)
