There are so many colors in this natural green walnut shell hand dyed cotton fabric! Green, brown, burgundy, slate… only if my eyes can scan each small area of these fabric. The beauty of hand dyed from natural plant speaks for itself through these pieces. My eyes were fixated on them for who knows how long when I first saw them. Just incredible!
The green walnut shell is harvested during August. It’s then boiled in water for hours. The dye lot is made from filtering the water through very fine cloth. Mordant is used to set the colors. However, as with all natural dyes, excessive dye would come out during the first few washes.
