The sewing lines on this Sashiko sampler are clearly marked and will wash out after stitching. Typically, the design is only printed on one half, with the other half used as backing, like for a pillow or another project.

Following the stenciled lines, your sashiko stitches define the design structure. Next, thread is woven through the stitches according to a pattern in the instructions. The fabric is then washed to reveal the design without the stenciled lines.

You can also sew this Sashiko sampler into a bag, cushion cover, or tablecloths/place mats.
